I feel like many other bakers have this problem, but I’m going to complain about it anyway haha. Isn’t it so nice when you bake a batch of brownies (that actually turn out well) and stick them in the fridge to cool overnight? Sounds great right? Then you can hop out of bed in the morning and take some pictures. At least that’s the idea…see I live in a house with four other people, aka my lovely family, which means that this morning when I woke up, someone had taken my brownies out of the refrigerator and basically went all angry velociraptor on the pan. Yep, they even left the knife sticking out haphazardly. I assessed the damage and decided there was at least enough salvageable brownie to take pictures with, but seriously (I’m looking at you, sisters) STAY AWAY FROM MY BROWNIES at least until I’ve taken pictures.
Has anyone else ever had this problem? My sisters have also been known to take slices of cake or quickbread that my parents intended for a party so it’s pretty much dessert Jurassic park in my house haha. Although I’m pretty sure that velociraptors didn’t eat sugar…
Anyway so I know these sound kind of weird. Who puts blueberries in brownies, Rebecca?! They’re actually awesome though. Think along the lines of chocolate covered blueberries–I know I think those are pretty addictive. Yep, don’t be afraid of the weirdness–embrace it ;).
Blueberry Brownies
-1 1/2 sticks of butter
-1 3/4 c granulated sugar
-3 eggs
-1 1/4 c flour
-1 tsp vanilla
-2 c blueberries
-4 oz baking chocolate
1. Melt the butter and chocolate together in the microwave in 30 second intervals, mixing between each one until melted.
2. Mix in the sugar.
3. Add in the eggs and vanilla.
4. Finally add the flour and mix until combined.
5. Fold in the blueberries.
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350ºF or until a knife comes out clean.
Ummmm sorry I just drooled all over your page 🙂 These look divine xx
Just make sure you clean up after yourself haha. Thanks so much for stopping by :).
Yep, this happens in our house too. My husband now knows better (thankfully) as he has been threatened several times with the knife he has left in the tray!
I figured it was probably a pretty common occurrence in houses where bakers live haha. Maybe I should be a little bit firmer with the dissuasion next time they try to eat my treats before I take pictures ;).
Oh yum, these look good. fresh blueberries never last long in our house but I might give it a try with frozen ones
Thanks Nikki! They should turn out just as well with frozen berries.
I was actually thinking of putting blueberries in brownies, but wasn’t sure how that would turn out – reading this post has given me a boost of confidence that I should do it! Luckily, I haven’t had problems with people scarfing down food before I get around to taking pictures of it (my boyfriend and family members are thankfully very patient), but I did have that problem in college with my roommates, where my food (and clothing!) would just magically disappear…
Glad my experimentation was helpful! I was worried about the results myself haha. You’re also very lucky that your boyfriend and family members don’t feel like it’s necessary to attack whatever you’ve made directly out of the oven :). To be honest I think I’ll have MORE luck with my roommate!
Blueberries and brownies? Brilliant combo! They look fudgey and delicious!
Thank’s so much Jessica! 🙂
